The International Solar Alliance (ISA), in collaboration with the GRIHA Council and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Government of India, has invited architects, designers and creative professionals to participate in the ISA Headquarters Architecture Design Competition for a proposed landmark headquarters in Gwal Pahari, Gurugram, Haryana.
The competition seeks design proposals for a headquarters that integrates solar innovation, climate-responsive architecture, net-zero principles and an inclusive global architectural identity. The proposed development is planned over a site of approximately 7.5 acres and is expected to include a 750-seat plenary hall, international office building and guest house/hostel.
Designing a Solar-Led Global Headquarters
The competition brief places emphasis on creating an architectural response that goes beyond conventional sustainability measures. The proposed headquarters is envisioned as solar-led, net-zero and climate responsive, while also establishing a strong architectural identity for an international organisation working to advance solar energy globally.
According to ISA and GRIHA Council, the project is intended to reflect India’s architectural identity, ISA’s global vision and international collaboration, while demonstrating how solar energy and sustainable design can be integrated into a major institutional development.

A pre-bid meeting for the competition was scheduled for 16 September 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Office of the Chief Engineer & Executive Director, Delhi Project Zone II, CPWD, Old JNU Campus, Munirka, New Delhi.
The competition provides an opportunity for architects and designers to explore how solar energy, passive design, climate responsiveness and institutional architecture can be brought together in a major international headquarters project.
