Ranchi: The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Jharkhand Chapter, is organising a session under its Mentorship Programme – Conversation | Architecture | Insights on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Vinaika Eco Resort, Ranchi. The programme will feature Ar. Sandeep Jha of Axis Architects and Urban Planners, Project Architect for Vinaika Eco Resort.
The session will explore the theme “Contemporary Adaptation of Traditional Technologies”, focusing on alternative construction techniques, adaptive reuse, eco-sensitive design and interdisciplinary collaboration in architectural practice.
A key highlight will be a case study of adaptive reuse, examining the transformation of an old factory building into a hotel. The discussion will also cover experimentation with alternative construction details and techniques, sustainable design approaches, and the coordination required between architectural firms and multiple consultants in large-scale projects.
Drawing on the Vinaika Eco Resort project, the session will offer insights into integrating traditional construction methods with contemporary architectural requirements. It will also examine the planning of back-of-house services and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems while maintaining the functional and experiential quality of a luxury hospitality property.
Organised by the IIA Jharkhand Chapter, the mentorship programme aims to encourage professional learning, knowledge exchange and interaction between architects through practical project experiences.
The session is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on October 30, 2026, at Vinaika Eco Resort, Ranchi. Members of the architectural fraternity are invited to participate in the discussion and engage with the design and construction challenges presented by contemporary architectural projects.
