The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has invited applications for the 2026–27 edition of its Transformative Leadership in STEMM (TLS) workshop, scheduled to take place from January 28 to 30, 2027. The three-day programme is designed for advanced-stage doctoral scholars from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, with the aim of strengthening their leadership skills and preparing them for academic and professional opportunities.

The initiative is organised by IIT Delhi’s Initiative for Caste Equity (ICE), the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the SC/ST Cell. It seeks to encourage and empower SC/ST PhD scholars to pursue faculty positions at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other higher education institutions, as well as leadership roles in industry.

Selected participants will have opportunities to present their research papers, receive mentorship from faculty members and senior experts, and participate in sessions focused on presentation skills, interviews, confidence building and professional networking. The programme will also facilitate interactions with deans and directors of IITs.

Eligibility and Thematic Areas

The workshop is open to SC/ST PhD scholars in their third or later year of doctoral studies at any IIT, NIT or other higher education institution. Candidates from the SC/ST communities who have recently been awarded a PhD are also eligible to apply.

The programme covers three broad thematic areas: Energy, Environment and Climate Sciences; Intelligent and Digital Technologies; and Fundamental Sciences and Scientific Innovation. Selection will be based on the candidates’ academic seniority, potential and the quality of their research abstracts. Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Application Process and Important Dates

Applicants are required to submit a 250-word abstract of their research paper, a letter of interest, an updated curriculum vitae (CV), and a recommendation letter from their research supervisor.

The application deadline is November 30, 2026, while the selection notification is scheduled for December 20, 2026. The workshop will be held at IIT Delhi from January 28 to 30, 2027.

IIT Delhi will reimburse travel expenses, including airfare, for selected candidates and provide local hospitality during the workshop.
