The new underground section will include the stations Inderlok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Jhandewalan Mandir, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Delhi Secretariat–IG Stadium, and Indraprastha. The project has been designed to enhance access to densely populated neighbourhoods and important commercial and institutional areas while minimizing surface disruption through its fully underground alignment.

A key highlight of the project is its seamless integration with the existing metro network. The corridor will provide direct interchange with seven metro lines, including the Red and Green Lines at Inderlok, the Yellow Line and Airport Express (Orange Line) at New Delhi, the Violet Line at Delhi Gate, and the Blue Line at Indraprastha, making cross-city travel faster and more convenient for passengers.

According to the Delhi Government, the corridor will also improve connectivity to several major landmarks and public destinations, including Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Secretariat, Jhandewalan Mandir, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kartavya Path, India Gate, the National War Memorial, and Central Vista. The project is expected to benefit students, office-goers, traders, tourists, and thousands of daily commuters by reducing travel time and improving accessibility.

The government said the metro extension will encourage greater use of public transport, helping reduce road traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and vehicular emissions while contributing to cleaner urban mobility. The project forms part of Delhi’s ongoing efforts to expand sustainable public transportation infrastructure and strengthen multimodal connectivity across the National Capital.
