Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A free full-day training workshop on Lifecycle Carbon Assessment (LCA) using the Building Emission Assessment Tool (BEAT) will be held on October 23, 2026, at the Energy Management Centre (EMC), Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram.
The workshop is being organised under the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project in collaboration with the CII–Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), HEAT International and Energy Management Centre, Kerala. The programme is intended to provide building-sector professionals with practical exposure to assessing carbon emissions across the lifecycle of buildings.
According to the workshop announcement, participants will receive a step-by-step demonstration of the BEAT LCA tool, along with practical building LCA exercises, interactive discussions, case studies and guided applications. Participants will also receive continued access to the BEAT tool after the training and a certificate of participation.
The training will cover the fundamentals of lifecycle carbon assessment, building-related carbon emissions, identification of carbon hotspots and the application of LCA to support low-carbon building strategies. The organisers have positioned the workshop as a hands-on learning opportunity for professionals seeking to understand and quantify the carbon impacts associated with buildings.
The workshop is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including building developers and owners, architects and designers, engineers and contractors, energy auditors and ESCOs, material manufacturers, financial institutions, sustainability professionals, consultants, policymakers, researchers and students.
The ALCBT Project is working to accelerate the transition towards low-carbon buildings in India and other Asian countries. In India, the project focuses on strengthening technical tools, capacity and policy support for low-carbon buildings, with activities covering Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The project includes building carbon assessment and lifecycle analysis as well as capacity-building initiatives.
The workshop will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will include lunch and tea/coffee. Participants are required to bring their own laptops. Participation is free, subject to available seats.
The organisers have encouraged architects, engineers, developers, sustainability professionals and other built-environment stakeholders to participate and gain practical experience in lifecycle carbon assessment and low-carbon building decision-making.
