According to IIT Delhi, Prof. Tanusree Chakraborty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for 2026. The INAE’s official nomination information lists her among the engineers elected as Fellows with effect from November 1, 2026.

Prof. Chakraborty’s research spans areas of civil and structural engineering. Her IIT Delhi research profile records recent work on granular materials, dynamic behaviour of rocks and ground-source heat pump systems, among other areas. IIT Delhi has also previously recognised her research through its academic and research communications.

Prof. Bijaya Ketan (B.K.) Panigrahi, associated with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) at IIT Delhi, has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) for 2026, according to IIT Delhi’s announcement.

Prof. Panigrahi has an established record of research and academic recognition in electrical engineering. IIT Delhi’s Department of Electrical Engineering records his earlier election as an INAE Fellow and lists several distinctions associated with his work in areas including power systems, power electronics and related engineering applications.

The institute announced the two fellowships on September 18, 2026, under the headline “INAE 2026 & INSA 2026 Fellows.” The recognition adds to IIT Delhi’s record of faculty achievements across engineering and scientific disciplines.
