New Delhi: The Department of Higher Education (DoHE), Ministry of Education, has reviewed 95.2% of its physical files and 87.46% of e-files under Special Campaign 5.0, marking significant progress in reducing pendency, improving record management and creating more efficient government workplaces.

According to the Ministry, 2,04,859 physical files and 62,564 e-files were reviewed during the campaign. Activities were undertaken across approximately 1,159 sites nationwide, resulting in the freeing of 14,44,839 sq. ft. of office space. The campaign also generated ₹6.89 crore in revenue through scrap disposal, while more than 3,312 files were digitised and 90,629 physical and electronic files were weeded out or closed.
The initiative focused on streamlining official records, reducing accumulated files and improving the use of office space. The Department has also linked these measures with cleaner and better-organised working environments across offices and institutions under its administrative framework.
Special Campaign 6.0 to Focus on Cleanliness and E-Waste
Building on the previous campaign, the Department of Higher Education is preparing to participate in Special Campaign 6.0, scheduled for October 2 to 31, 2026. The campaign will cover offices, autonomous organisations and centrally funded higher education institutions, with emphasis on reducing pendency, improving cleanliness and strengthening workplace management.
The campaign will be implemented in two phases. The Preparatory Phase will run from September 15 to 30, during which heads and faculty of centrally funded institutions, UGC, AICTE and DoHE bureaus will identify pending matters, establish targets and determine priority areas for cleanliness and space management.
Particular attention will be given to record management, disposal of outdated materials and office beautification. The campaign will also place increased emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste, building on the previous year’s focus on scientific e-waste management.
During the Implementation Phase from October 2 to 31, participating offices will focus on clearing pending matters, including public grievances, parliamentary assurances, inter-ministerial communications and VVIP references. Progress will be reported on a daily basis.
The campaign will additionally seek to encourage sustainability and greater public engagement through social media under the hashtag #SpecialCampaign6.
24,126 Public Grievances Disposed
The Ministry also reported that, as part of a separate Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters conducted from November 2025 to August 2026, 24,126 public grievances and 4,177 public grievance appeals were disposed of.
The results of Special Campaign 5.0 and the planned activities under Campaign 6.0 indicate a continued focus by the Department on digitisation, record rationalisation, efficient space utilisation, cleanliness and timely disposal of pending administrative matters.
