The advisory was issued after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed Gurugram under an Orange Alert for August 6, warning of continued rainfall and the possibility of widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion across the district.

According to the DDMA, the work-from-home arrangement has been recommended to reduce vehicular movement, ease traffic congestion, and facilitate uninterrupted road repair and drainage restoration works being undertaken by civic agencies in rain-affected areas.

The district administration has also appealed to residents to avoid unnecessary travel, follow official weather and traffic advisories, and cooperate with authorities to ensure public safety during the ongoing spell of heavy rain.

Officials stated that reducing traffic volume will help emergency services and municipal agencies carry out restoration activities more efficiently while minimizing inconvenience to commuters.

The advisory comes as Gurugram continues to experience monsoon-related disruptions, with several areas reporting waterlogging and slow-moving traffic due to intense rainfall.
