New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has invited applications for the August–September 2026 term of its Internship Programme, offering women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to government policymaking and programme implementation.

The internship programme is open to women aged between 21 and 40 years who are enrolled in or associated with universities, academic institutions, or non-academic organizations. Preference is given to candidates from non-tier-I cities and rural areas across India. Interested applicants can submit their applications online through the Ministry’s internship portal.
According to the Ministry, the internship is conducted in four terms during each financial year—May–June, August–September, November–December, and February–March. Each term lasts two months, and applications are accepted two months before the commencement of the respective term, from the 1st to the 10th day of the month. Candidates who have previously been selected under the programme are not eligible to apply again.
The initiative aims to familiarize participants with the Ministry’s policies, programmes, and governance processes through short-term engagement. Interns may undertake pilot projects, micro-studies, and research activities linked to ongoing initiatives of the Ministry. The programme encourages participants to contribute through empirical analysis, reports, policy papers, and briefs that can support better implementation of government schemes.
Beyond research and field studies, the internship provides opportunities for interaction with Ministry officials, representatives of other government departments, and stakeholders working in the fields of women’s empowerment and child welfare. The Ministry believes that such engagement helps bridge information gaps and encourages greater participation of young women in policy discourse and social development initiatives.
The programme reflects the government’s continued efforts to nurture young talent and strengthen evidence-based policymaking by involving women from diverse educational and social backgrounds in the development process.
