Union Minister Manohar Lal Reviews NBCC and CPWD Projects in Parliamentary Consultative Committee Meeting

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, Shri Manohar Lal, chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to review the functioning and ongoing initiatives of the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The meeting focused on evaluating progress in government infrastructure projects and strengthening construction practices across the country.

The meeting was attended by MoHUA Secretary Shri Srinivas Katikithala, senior officials from the ministry, and Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. During the session, officials presented updates on the adoption of modern construction technologies in government projects. These technologies are helping accelerate project execution, enhance structural quality, and improve overall efficiency in public infrastructure development.

The committee also reviewed redevelopment models being implemented for General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colonies and other government buildings. These initiatives aim to optimise the use of valuable urban land, create modern and sustainable residential infrastructure, and improve living conditions for government employees.

In his remarks, Shri Manohar Lal emphasised the importance of adopting efficient construction practices and leveraging advanced technologies to ensure transparency, quality, and timely completion of infrastructure projects. He highlighted that improved project management systems and modern building technologies are transforming the delivery of public infrastructure across India.

Members of the Consultative Committee also shared their suggestions on strengthening construction standards, improving project monitoring mechanisms, and enhancing sustainability in government infrastructure projects. The Union Minister welcomed these recommendations and assured that the inputs from Members of Parliament would be considered to further improve the functioning of NBCC and CPWD and strengthen infrastructure development in the country.
