The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), in collaboration with the Swachh Bharat Urban Knowledge Management Unit (SBMU-KMU), is set to host a four-day Orientation Programme for National Master Trainers from 24 to 27 November 2025 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The initiative supports the national goal of strengthening capacity building across states and urban local bodies under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, focusing on high-quality and scalable training systems for waste and sanitation management.
This orientation programme will bring together sector experts and Swachhata Knowledge Partners to finalize a unified training framework for state- and city-level capacity building efforts.
Programme Focus
The four-day event will include dedicated technical sessions on:
- Solid Waste Management (SWM): 24–25 November
- Used Water Management (UWM): 26–27 November
Key Outcomes Expected
- Development of standardized training content covering 12 critical topics in SWM and UWM.
- Creation of a national pool of 100 Master Trainers equipped to lead capacity-building efforts across states and cities.
NIUA emphasizes that skilled trainers will play a crucial role in advancing India’s waste processing systems, sanitation initiatives, and dumpsite remediation goals. As cities expand their waste management infrastructure, trained professionals will be essential for delivering efficient and scalable impact.
