New Delhi: The Delhi government has appointed Sub-Registrars across all 39 sub-divisions of the national capital for the first time through a technology-assisted randomisation process, in a move aimed at making administrative postings more transparent and improving access to registration-related services.
The postings were carried out on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the presence of the Additional Chief Secretary (Services). Eligible officers were selected through a technology-based system after meeting prescribed criteria, including good health, adequate remaining service tenure and vigilance clearance.
As part of the administrative expansion, the Delhi government has also increased the number of Sub-Registrar offices from 22 to 39, corresponding to the 39 sub-divisions across the capital’s 13 revenue districts. The government has notified 17 new Sub-Registrar offices, bringing registration and related services closer to residents in their respective areas.
The Sub-Registrar offices deal with several important registration and revenue-related matters that directly affect citizens. The government said that filling positions across all 39 sub-divisions through a transparent randomisation mechanism would help improve administrative functioning and streamline public services.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the technology-driven posting process and urged the newly appointed officers to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, dedication and a strong sense of public service. She said the government was working to strengthen administrative systems and make them more organised, efficient and convenient for citizens.
Multi-Utility Ducts Planned Across Delhi
In a separate infrastructure initiative, the Delhi government has approved a plan to develop Multi-Utility Ducts (MUDs) across the capital to address the recurring problem of roads being dug up for utility-related works.
The underground corridors are proposed to accommodate essential services, including electricity cables, water and gas pipelines, fire-hydrant networks and other utilities. The initiative is expected to reduce repeated road cutting, minimise traffic disruptions and inconvenience to commuters, and help preserve the condition of Delhi’s roads.
The government said the MUD initiative forms part of its broader infrastructure development strategy, with a focus on meeting the city’s future requirements while improving urban services.
