Photographs released ahead of the inauguration reveal a modern passenger terminal featuring expansive check-in halls, spacious arrival and departure areas, contemporary baggage handling facilities, premium passenger amenities, and interiors inspired by the region’s cultural heritage. Artistic installations depicting traditional musical instruments and local craftsmanship have been integrated into the terminal design, reflecting Andhra Pradesh’s rich cultural identity.

The airport’s architecture combines contemporary design with passenger-centric planning. Large columned spaces, high ceilings, extensive natural lighting, landscaped indoor courtyards, and intuitive wayfinding are intended to provide a seamless travel experience. Modern security systems, advanced baggage handling infrastructure, and spacious circulation areas are expected to improve operational efficiency and passenger comfort.

Bhogapuram International Airport has been developed to accommodate future growth in domestic and international passenger traffic. Once operational, it is expected to reduce pressure on the existing Visakhapatnam Airport and strengthen connectivity to major Indian cities as well as international destinations. The airport is also anticipated to support cargo operations, boost tourism along Andhra Pradesh’s coastline, facilitate business travel, and generate employment opportunities across the region.

The project forms part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s broader vision to strengthen transport infrastructure and position the Visakhapatnam metropolitan region as a major economic and logistics hub on India’s eastern coast.

The inauguration by the Prime Minister marks the culmination of years of planning and construction and is expected to open a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh’s aviation and infrastructure development.
