NMRC Invites Consultants to Design Noida Metro Aqua Line Extensions

Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has floated a tender to appoint a Detail Design Consultant (DDC) for the upcoming Aqua Line extension projects. The consultant will be responsible for preparing civil, architectural, electrical, and mechanical designs for three key corridors:

  • Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V
  • Sector 51 to Sector 142
  • Depot to Boraki

Corridor Details

The proposed extensions will add 31.6 km of elevated metro tracks and 21 stations to the Aqua Line network. The consultant will design viaducts, elevated stations, depots, and substations, with a focus on:

  • Passenger movement and concourse layouts
  • Platforms and accessibility features
  • Aesthetics, signage, and passenger amenities
  • Electrical and mechanical systems including lighting, ventilation, lifts, escalators, and fire safety measures

Approvals and Progress

  • The 2.6 km Depot–Boraki corridor has already received approval from both the state and central governments. This stretch will connect Depot Station with Junpat village and Boraki metro station.
  • The 11.5 km Botanical Garden–Sector 142 corridor, with eight stations, has been cleared by the Public Investment Board (PIB) and is awaiting final approval from the Centre.
  • The 17.4 km Sector 51–Knowledge Park V stretch, with 11 stations, is under advanced discussion and awaiting PIB clearance.

Significance of the Extensions

The expansions are expected to significantly enhance connectivity:

  • The Greater Noida West line will link directly to Sector 51, improving access to Noida and further to Delhi Metro’s Blue Line.
  • The Botanical Garden–Sector 142 corridor will directly connect the Aqua Line with Botanical Garden station, a major interchange hub.
