Kochi: The preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Kochi Metro Phase 3, extending the network from Aluva to Angamaly, has officially commenced. The task has been entrusted to Haryana-based Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., with the report expected to be completed within six months at a cost of ₹1.03 crore.

According to KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera, the extension will pass through Kochi Airport, significantly enhancing regional connectivity. “The Central and State governments have approved the DPR study, which marks the beginning of extending metro services to Angamaly. This project will provide world-class travel facilities to the public and stimulate economic growth in the Aluva–Angamaly corridor,” he said.
The proposed project includes the construction of a 17.5 km elevated viaduct, with around 3 km planned as an underground stretch. To ensure a comprehensive plan, extensive field surveys, engineering studies, and investigations will be carried out.
The DPR preparation is being funded under the Central Financial Assistance Scheme of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
