New Delhi: The long-awaited Delhi Master Plan 2041 and the NCR Regional Plan 2041 are expected to be notified soon, with all major formalities nearing completion, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal announced on Monday.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the minister stated that the draft MPD 2041 has already undergone a comprehensive multi-level approval process involving the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Government, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and the Land & Development Office. According to the minister, only one final meeting at the level of Union Home Minister Amit Shah remains before the plan is formally finalized.
The Master Plan 2041, prepared by the DDA, is a statutory planning document that will guide Delhi’s growth and development over the next two decades. It aims to address challenges related to housing, infrastructure, mobility, environment, economic development, and quality of life while providing a framework for sustainable urban expansion.
The minister also indicated that the NCR Regional Plan 2041 is likely to be discussed by the NCR Planning Board on June 16. The plan involves coordination among Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. He noted that objections and suggestions raised by participating states have been considered, while ensuring compliance with court directives and environmental regulations.
Urban planners and development stakeholders are closely watching the notification of both plans, as they are expected to shape the future growth strategy of Delhi and the wider National Capital Region.
