Greater Noida: In a major boost to regional connectivity, the Noida Metro’s Aqua Metro Line is set to be extended to Greater Noida West with the addition of 11 new stations across 17.4 km. The project, estimated at ₹2,991 crore, is expected to directly benefit more than 4 lakh residents of Noida and Greater Noida.

According to officials, the proposal will soon be submitted to the Public Investment Board (PIB) for approval. Once cleared, construction is expected to commence within three months, with civil works likely to be completed by the end of next year.
Two-Phase Expansion
The project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will connect Sector-51 to Sector-2, while the second will extend further to Greater Sector-5. At present, the Aqua Line runs between Sector-51 and the Depot in Greater Noida, with a separate extension to Sector-142 also in the pipeline.

Project Details and Cost Sharing
The new corridor will cover 3.33 km in Noida with three stations and 14.1 km in Greater Noida with eight stations. Around 1.23 lakh passengers are expected to use this stretch daily.
The cost will be shared between the Noida Authority (33%) and the Greater Noida Authority (67%).
Funding Model
The financing structure for the project has been finalised:
- Government of India: 12.97%
- Government of Uttar Pradesh: 12.97%
- NCR Planning Board: 44.98%
- Greater Noida Authority: 10.04%
- Noida Authority: 5%
- Additional contributions from GIA and GeoUP
Proposed Stations
The expansion will feature key stations including Sector-61 (interchange hub), Sector-70, Sector-122, Sector-123, Greater Sector-4, Ecotech-12, Greater Sector-2, Greater Sector-3, Greater Sector-10, Greater Sector-12, and Knowledge Park-5.
