Interdisciplinary Focus on Built Environment and Ecology

The FDP is designed as an interdisciplinary academic platform aimed at expanding the intellectual and pedagogical horizons of architecture educators and practicing architects. It emphasizes the role of environmental humanities in understanding architecture and urban systems through cultural narratives, ecological processes, community values, and historical contexts.

By bringing together experts from architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, conservation, ecology, and allied fields, the programme seeks to foster dialogue on how ecological thinking and cultural storytelling can inform more empathetic, inclusive, and environmentally responsible design practices.

Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The programme will help participants:

  • Understand environmental humanities and site interpretation through ecological, historical, and narrative lenses
  • Identify and document community values, lived experiences, and intangible cultural practices
  • Strengthen knowledge of heritage significance, conservation ethics, and pedagogy
  • Develop interdisciplinary mapping and analytical tools for context-sensitive design
  • Encourage research culture and academic collaboration across disciplines

Participants are expected to gain new teaching strategies and research insights that can be directly integrated into architectural studios and academic curricula.

Expert Faculty and Academic Leadership
