The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), under the CITIIS 2.0 programme, has announced a webinar titled “Financial Viability and Project Structuring under PPP” to strengthen the capacity of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in developing financially sustainable Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management projects.
The webinar will be held on 12 August 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM (IST) and will feature Jailendra Kashyap, Domestic Expert under CITIIS 2.0, as the resource person.
Municipal Solid Waste management requires significant capital investment across the entire value chain. The session will focus on how ULBs and SPVs can leverage the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to bridge funding gaps and develop bankable projects. Participants will gain insights into project cost estimation, revenue generation models, risk allocation, and financial instruments such as Viability Gap Funding (VGF), aligned with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
According to NIUA, the webinar aims to help city officials and project stakeholders understand the fundamentals of financial viability and PPP project structuring, enabling them to convert project concepts into implementable and investment-ready proposals.
The programme is intended for officials from Municipal Corporations, SPVs, private sector organizations, NGOs, consultants, researchers, and industry professionals involved in urban infrastructure and solid waste management.
The webinar is being organized under the CITIIS 2.0 initiative, supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, in collaboration with AFD, KfW, the European Union, Global Gateway, and other programme partners.
