The Government of Gujarat’s High-Level Committee on Urban Planning (HLC-G), under the Urban Development & Urban Housing Department, is set to organise “Dialogues on Transformational Urbanism” in Ahmedabad on May 29 and 30, 2026. The event will also be accessible through virtual mode, bringing together policymakers, urban experts, academicians, and industry leaders to discuss the future of urban development in Gujarat.

The two-day dialogue aims to accelerate progress in cities by promoting the exchange of innovative ideas, policy frameworks, and successful urban transformation practices. According to the organisers, the event is designed to create implementation-oriented discussions that can translate into practical outcomes for cities across Gujarat.
The programme will focus on critical themes shaping future urban growth, including City Economic Regions, Urban Renewal, Circular Economy, Water-Sensitive Urban Planning, Green and Complete Streets, and Transformative Approaches to Town Planning Schemes. Discussions on civic awareness and inclusive urban governance are also expected to play a major role during the sessions.
Officials stated that the initiative aligns with Gujarat’s broader vision of building resilient, inclusive, economically productive, and globally competitive cities. The dialogues are intended to foster collaboration between government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and domain experts to strengthen urban systems and improve quality of life for citizens.
The organisers highlighted that future cities will be defined by the quality, resilience, inclusivity, and intelligence of the systems built today. Through expert insights and cross-sectoral engagement, the forum aims to position Gujarat at the forefront of progressive urban transformation in India.
The event reflects the growing importance of integrated urban planning strategies as Indian cities face increasing challenges related to infrastructure, sustainability, mobility, and climate resilience.
