New Delhi — The Council of Architecture (COA) has announced an extension for the submission of nominations for the prestigious Padma Awards 2026 in the field of Architecture. This follows a request from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Government of India, seeking recommendations for distinguished architects for national recognition.

As per the latest communication (Ref. No. CA/496/2025/Padma Awards), architects registered with the Council and possessing a minimum of 25 years of professional experience in practice and/or service are eligible to apply. The revised last date for submission to the COA is 7th August 2025, ahead of the Ministry’s final nomination deadline of 15th August 2025.

Interested architects must submit the following self-attested documents:
- Detailed CV/Portfolio
- COA Registration Certificate
- Description of social projects and their societal impact
- Contributions toward architectural education and youth development
- Details of national/international awards received, if any
- Any other relevant achievements supporting their nomination
In an effort to promote inclusive recognition, the Ministry has urged special attention be given to nominations from women, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), weaker sections, and Divyang (persons with disabilities). Applicants falling under these categories are required to provide appropriate documentary evidence.

The Council clarified that previously submitted entries will be considered and need not be resubmitted.
Submissions must be emailed by 11:59 PM on August 7, 2025, to the designated email address:

It is also emphasized that entries sent after the deadline or to alternate email addresses will not be entertained. Furthermore, architects with less than 25 years of professional experience (as calculated from the date of COA registration) are not eligible.
The COA Registrar, R.K. Oberoi, expressed hope that the extended deadline will allow for more deserving nominations reflecting India’s architectural excellence and inclusive national spirit.
