The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to address persistent traffic congestion at the Sarai Kale Khan Loop, a key interchange on the DND–Sohna section of National Highway (NH)-148NA. The move is aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing commuter convenience across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Sarai Kale Khan Loop is a major convergence point for vehicles travelling from Ashram, Noida and Sarai Kale Khan. With the DND–Sohna National Highway corridor nearing commissioning, traffic volumes at the junction are expected to increase significantly, making infrastructure upgrades essential to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the DPR will be prepared on a priority basis to identify long-term engineering and traffic management solutions for one of Delhi’s busiest transport nodes. The study will evaluate infrastructure interventions designed to improve road capacity, reduce travel time, enhance safety and streamline vehicle movement through the corridor.
The proposed measures are expected to complement the ongoing development of the DND–Sohna National Highway by ensuring seamless connectivity at the Sarai Kale Khan interchange, thereby maximizing the operational benefits of the new corridor once it becomes functional.
The initiative forms part of NHAI’s broader efforts to strengthen urban mobility infrastructure, reduce traffic bottlenecks and provide a more efficient and comfortable travel experience for commuters in Delhi-NCR.
