NHAI Launches Digital Local Pass and AI-Powered MargMitra Help Centre on RajmargYatra App

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced two new citizen-centric digital services on the RajmargYatra Mobile App—the Digital Local Pass and the MargMitra Help Centre. These initiatives are designed to make National Highway travel more seamless by reducing paperwork, improving accessibility, and offering real-time digital support to commuters.

The newly launched Digital Local Pass allows eligible residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of designated toll plazas to purchase their monthly local toll pass directly through the RajmargYatra app, eliminating the need to visit toll plazas and submit physical documents. The service has been introduced initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi and will gradually be expanded to other toll plazas across the country.

The digital process leverages consent-based integration with DigiLocker and VAHAN to automatically retrieve verified information, including the commuter’s address, vehicle details, and linked FASTag. Eligibility is further verified using GIS-based location validation, making the process faster, transparent, and free from manual documentation.

NHAI has also introduced the MargMitra Help Centre, an intelligent digital assistance platform integrated within the RajmargYatra app. The conversational interface enables users to type or speak queries in any of 22 Indian languages, allowing them to access highway-related information, raise grievances, and receive guidance on various services.

The platform provides instant assistance for services such as FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, Annual Pass and Local Pass information, along with answers to frequently asked questions. Users can also lodge complaints that are automatically routed to the concerned department, track complaint status in real time, and file appeals if they are dissatisfied with the resolution. Additionally, MargMitra enables commuters to check FASTag blacklisting status, view pending e-notices, and report road safety issues such as stalled vehicles or encroachments on National Highways.

According to NHAI, these additions build upon the growing success of the RajmargYatra platform, through which more than 80 lakh Annual Passes have already been sold with real-time activation. The authority stated that these new digital services reinforce its commitment to delivering transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric highway services while improving the overall travel experience on India’s National Highway network.
