Jaipur: Rajasthan rail infrastructure received a significant boost as Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed key railway projects across the state, inspected the newly developed Mega Coaching Terminal at Khatipura, and participated in the inauguration of the Jaipur (Khatipura)–Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express. The developments form part of the Ministry of Railways’ broader efforts to strengthen connectivity, improve passenger amenities, and modernize railway operations in Rajasthan.

During his visit, the Railway Minister inspected the Mega Coaching Terminal at Khatipura, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the maintenance and servicing of railway coaches. According to the Ministry of Railways, the terminal will facilitate quicker and more efficient maintenance operations, enabling better punctuality, reliability, and passenger comfort across train services operating in the region.
The Minister also interacted with railway employees at the facility, appreciating their contribution to railway operations and discussing ways to further improve service delivery. The terminal is expected to support the increasing demand for modern rail services while reducing turnaround times for coach maintenance.
A key highlight of the visit was the flagging off of the Jaipur (Khatipura)–Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express, a new rail service aimed at improving connectivity between Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, and other public representatives.
The Ministry stated that the new Amrit Bharat Express will provide improved travel options for passengers while strengthening economic and social links between northern and eastern India. The service is expected to benefit migrant workers, students, business travelers, and families who frequently travel between these regions.
As part of the infrastructure review, Railway Minister Vaishnaw also held discussions regarding the approval and development of Sundarpura Railway Station near Sikar. The proposed works are expected to enhance station facilities and improve accessibility for local commuters.
The Ministry further highlighted ongoing initiatives to upgrade passenger amenities across Rajasthan’s railway stations. These include advanced passenger information systems, improved station infrastructure, and enhanced accessibility measures aimed at providing a more comfortable travel experience. Railway officials noted that real-time train information and upgraded facilities would particularly benefit senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and daily commuters.
Addressing a public gathering, the Railway Minister emphasized the importance of logistics infrastructure and noted that Rajasthan is witnessing rapid expansion in rail-related investments. He stated that the state is developing multiple cargo and logistics facilities, including 24 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, to support economic growth and multimodal transportation.
The latest railway initiatives underscore the government’s continued focus on modernizing India’s rail network through improved connectivity, upgraded infrastructure, and passenger-centric services, with Rajasthan emerging as a key beneficiary of these investments.
