The Council of Architecture (CoA), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released the “PGETA 2026 – The 101 Guide”, providing aspiring postgraduate architecture students with detailed information regarding the Postgraduate Entrance Test in Architecture (PGETA) 2026. The guide aims to assist candidates seeking admission to the first year of two-year postgraduate architecture programmes offered by CoA-approved institutions across the country.

PGETA 2026 Guide released by the Council of Architecture for postgraduate architecture admissions in India.

PGETA serves as a standardized entrance examination for candidates aspiring to pursue advanced studies in architecture and allied specializations. According to the Council of Architecture, the examination assesses candidates on various academic and professional competencies, including architecture and design, building sciences, applied engineering, professional electives, and skill enhancement courses.

The eligibility criteria specify that applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. Final-year architecture students awaiting completion of their degree are also eligible to appear for the examination. Notably, there is no upper age limit for candidates.

The examination will be conducted online in three separate sessions, allowing candidates multiple opportunities to improve their scores. The scheduled dates are May 31, June 14, and June 28, 2026, with each test being held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.

The test pattern comprises four modules. Module I focuses on Architecture and Design with 64 questions, while Module II covers Building Sciences and Applied Engineering with 14 questions. Module III consists of six questions on Professional Electives, and Module IV includes 16 questions related to Professional Ability and Skill Enhancement Courses.

Candidates can complete the application process online by filling out the application form, uploading photographs and signatures, paying the prescribed application fee, downloading the confirmation page, and submitting the final application after verification.

The Council has also established a dedicated helpdesk for PGETA-related queries through its online support portal, email assistance, and telephone support.

With postgraduate education becoming increasingly important for specialization and research-oriented architectural practice, PGETA 2026 is expected to attract a large number of architecture graduates seeking advanced academic opportunities across India.
