The inauguration ceremony brought together representatives from local and national governments, delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean, urban development experts, and international stakeholders. The pavilion serves as a collaborative platform to strengthen regional partnerships and showcase the evolving urban agenda across Latin American cities.

Located within the Urban Expo at the Baku Olympic Stadium, the Mexico City Pavilion highlights initiatives focused on sustainable urban development, inclusive public spaces, mobility systems, climate-responsive planning, and people-centred urban policies.

The exhibition also aims to encourage dialogue and the exchange of best practices among cities facing common urban challenges such as housing shortages, social inequality, rapid urbanization, and climate resilience. Organizers emphasized that the pavilion reflects the growing role of Latin American cities in shaping global urban discourse and advancing regional cooperation ahead of WUF14.

Mexico City’s participation at WUF13 is expected to build momentum for the 2028 forum, which will mark the return of the World Urban Forum to Latin America after several years.
