Established in 2021, the biennial international award recognises exemplary built projects that combine architectural excellence with measurable contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 focused on sustainable cities and communities, along with the principles of the New Urban Agenda.

The third cycle of the award highlights projects addressing critical global urban challenges through architecture, planning and design innovation. The six award categories include clean water and sanitation, decent work and economic growth, affordable housing, inclusive urban planning, equitable access to public spaces, and climate resilience. The initiative aims to demonstrate how architecture can actively contribute to more sustainable, inclusive and resilient urban futures.

The official announcement ceremony will take place at the Press Conference Room of the Baku Olympic Stadium from 4:15 PM to 6:00 PM local time. The session will be moderated by Peter Oborn, Chair of the UIA 2030 Award.

Key speakers at the event include Rui Leão, Secretary General of the UIA; Anna Rubbo, UIA 2030 Award Juror from the Centre for Sustainable Urban Development at The Earth Institute, New York; and Christelle Lahoud, Programme Management Officer at UN-Habitat.

The UIA 2030 Award has emerged as one of the significant international recognitions linking architecture with sustainable development goals. By showcasing impactful built projects from across the world, the award reinforces the growing role of architects and urban professionals in addressing climate change, housing inequality, infrastructure gaps and inclusive city-making.
