The Council of Architecture (CoA), through its Training and Research Centre (CoA-TRC) Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA), is set to organize a 5-Day Offline Professional Development Program on the Indian Architectural Plumbing League (IAPL) from June 1 to June 5, 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen architects’ practical understanding of plumbing systems and integrated water management in architectural practice.
The program follows the recently conducted Capacity Building Program titled Integrated Water and Sanitation – A Blueprint for Sustainable Architecture, held on March 17, 2026, which focused on sustainable water management and sanitation strategies. CoA has also made the session recording publicly available for participants and professionals interested in revisiting the discussions.
The upcoming IAPL program is being introduced as a first-of-its-kind academic–industry initiative specially designed for architects, architecture students, and allied professionals. The course will provide 20 hours of learning through classroom sessions and a mandatory site visit.
According to the organizers, the program will cover key subjects including plumbing fundamentals, water supply systems, drainage systems, stormwater management, rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, and plumbing codes. Special emphasis will also be placed on space planning, design coordination, and bridging the gap between architectural design intent and on-ground execution.
The organizers believe the training will help professionals develop a more integrated understanding of water-sensitive architectural planning and building services coordination, which are becoming increasingly important in sustainable urban development and contemporary building practices.
