GHMC–IGBC to Host Stakeholder Meet on Water Discharge & Stormwater Management in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), in collaboration with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will organise a focused stakeholder interaction on Water Discharge & Waste/Storm Water Management on January 22, 2026.

The half-day session will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at IGBC Headquarters, Hitech City, bringing together government officials, urban planners, infrastructure professionals, and key industry stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening Hyderabad’s urban water systems.

The interaction is intended to foster informed dialogue on the growing challenges of stormwater management, wastewater discharge, and long-term urban water resilience in rapidly expanding cities such as Hyderabad.

Key discussion themes include:

  • Open dialogue with GHMC officials on current practices and regulatory frameworks
  • The Government of Telangana’s long-term vision for urban water resilience
  • Stakeholder engagement in shaping future policies for sustainable water management
  • Integration of green infrastructure and climate-responsive planning in urban areas

With increasing instances of urban flooding and pressure on drainage networks, the session aims to promote collaborative solutions that align governance, planning, and sustainable development goals.

The event forms part of IGBC’s 25-year commitment to advancing sustainable built environments in India and supports GHMC’s ongoing efforts to modernise Hyderabad’s water infrastructure.
