The 9th GRIHA Regional Conclave 2026, centred on the theme “Innovate to Act for a Climate Resilient World”, will be held on 28 January 2026 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The conclave is being organised by GRIHA Council, India’s national rating system for green buildings, with the objective of advancing climate-resilient and sustainable practices in the built environment.

Addressing Climate Challenges Through the Built Environment

The built environment is a significant contributor to global emissions and resource consumption, while simultaneously remaining highly vulnerable to climate-induced stresses such as extreme heat, flooding, and infrastructure shocks. As cities expand and climate risks intensify, the need for adaptive, resilient, and low-carbon infrastructure has become a national and global priority.

The conclave will deliberate on how innovation, when coupled with resilience, can transform the way buildings, cities, and infrastructure are designed, constructed, and managed. It aims to move beyond conventional sustainability approaches by promoting scalable solutions that can respond, adapt, recover, and thrive under climate stress conditions.

Platform for Policy, Practice, and Innovation

The GRIHA Regional Conclave 2026 is envisioned as a multi-stakeholder platform, bringing together policymakers, architects, planners, engineers, researchers, product manufacturers, industry leaders, and urban practitioners. Through focused discussions and knowledge exchange, participants will explore actionable strategies that translate climate ambitions into on-ground outcomes at regional and city levels.

By emphasising regional insights and localised responses, the conclave recognises that climate resilience must be context-specific while aligned with national and global sustainability goals. India’s role as a catalyst for inclusive and scalable climate solutions will be a key focus of the deliberations.
