Established under the Ministry of Ayush, AIIA’s main campus in New Delhi has emerged as a national centre of excellence, integrating traditional Ayurvedic systems with modern diagnostics, emergency services, and advanced research infrastructure. Inaugurated in 2017, the institute currently operates a 200-bed state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital and serves an average daily outpatient footfall of 1,500 to 2,000 patients.

According to official data, AIIA has benefited more than 28 lakh patients through OPD services, public health initiatives, and health camps, while over 24,000 patients have received inpatient care to date. The institute hosts 45 specialised clinics addressing a wide range of conditions including diabetes, neurological disorders, infertility, PCOD, skin diseases, geriatric care, and lifestyle-related ailments. Traditional procedures such as Panchakarma, Ksharsutra, Agnikarma, Jalauka therapy, and Marma Chikitsa are delivered alongside modern clinical support.

AIIA’s integrative healthcare model is reinforced by advanced laboratories, modular operation theatres, ICUs, NICUs, emergency units, and dedicated integrative clinics in oncology, dentistry, orthopaedics, nutrition, and critical care. The institute is also a major research hub, with over 740 ongoing projects, including international collaborations focusing on evidence-based validation of Ayurvedic formulations and therapies.

In academics and skill development, AIIA offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes in multiple Ayurvedic specialties, along with nationally certified skill courses aligned with the healthcare sector. Its innovation ecosystem includes incubation support for Ayurveda-based start-ups and digital research through Ayurinformatics and molecular biology platforms.

Expanding this model, the AIIA Satellite Centre in Goa—spread across 50 acres—houses a 250-bed hospital and comprehensive academic facilities. Since its inauguration in 2022, the Goa centre has catered to over 4.4 lakh OPD patients and aims to strengthen India’s position in global Ayurvedic medical tourism.

The Ministry stated that this integrated framework of clinical care, research, education, and innovation forms the core criteria for establishing new AIIA units nationwide, ensuring uniform standards and scalable impact for Ayurveda’s role in India’s healthcare system.
