During the visit, the Prime Minister will reach Ranaghat in Nadia district at around 11:15 a.m. to inaugurate and commence work on two National Highway projects with a combined investment of approximately ₹3,200 crore. He will also address a public gathering on the occasion.

As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 66.7-kilometre-long four-laning of the Barajaguli–Krishnanagar section of National Highway-34 in Nadia district. In addition, he will lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the 17.6-kilometre Barasat–Barajaguli section of NH-34 in North 24 Parganas district.

These highway projects are expected to play a critical role in improving connectivity between Kolkata and Siliguri, significantly reducing travel time by nearly two hours. The upgraded corridors will facilitate smoother traffic flow, lower vehicle operating costs, and enhance logistical efficiency for passenger and freight movement.

Beyond mobility improvements, the projects are anticipated to support economic growth across the region by improving access to neighbouring districts and international borders. Enhanced road infrastructure is also expected to provide a boost to tourism and allied economic activities in northern and central West Bengal.

The initiatives form part of the Government of India’s broader strategy to modernise national highway infrastructure and strengthen regional integration through high-capacity transport corridors.
