India Post has unveiled Kerala’s first Gen-Z themed Post Office Extension Counter at CMS College, Kottayam, introducing a refreshed and contemporary approach to postal services tailored for young users. The facility was inaugurated by Shri N. R. Giri, Director Postal Services (Kerala Central Region) .

Conceived around the idea “of the students, by the students, for the students,” the space has been co-created by CMS College students in collaboration with India Post officials. The design integrates creativity, sustainability and functionality, transforming the traditional postal counter into a vibrant multi-use environment.
The extension counter blends indoor and outdoor zones, functioning as a work café, a green corner, and a student community hub while aligning with the college’s ethos of harmony with nature .
Key Features of the Gen-Z Postal Extension Counter
• A nature-inspired seating area with picnic-table arrangements, a vertical garden, and additional eco-friendly seating crafted from refurbished tyres.
• A work-friendly counter ledge equipped with charging points for laptops and mobile devices.
• A recreation zone with a bookshelf, board games, and an indoor reading nook designed for quiet reflection.
• A fully equipped MPCM booking counter featuring packaging materials and a MyStamp printer to enhance accessibility.
• Art-rich interiors displaying student and staff artwork portraying India Post, Kerala’s cultural heritage, and nature-driven motifs .
The café-style outdoor setup merged with greenery, and a modern, aesthetic interior showcasing the redesigned service counter.

India Post stated that this next-gen counter is not merely a service point but a multipurpose workplace, meeting space, and creative hub that carries forward its legacy into the future.
