Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches Nationwide Innovation Challenge Ahead of IISF 2025

New Delhi: In the run-up to the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, Union Minister of Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh has launched a Nationwide Innovation Challenge aimed at identifying breakthrough ideas from innovators across India. The initiative places a special focus on empowering Gen Z to drive the next wave of technological advancement.

Announcing the challenge through a video message, Dr. Singh highlighted India’s remarkable scientific progress over the last decade. The country now boasts 6,000+ DeepTech startups, a 14-fold growth in the bioeconomy, doubled R&D investments, and a rapidly expanding $8 billion private space economy. He also noted the launch of India’s first National Quantum Mission, which is fueling a new generation of quantum technology startups.

“This is not just progress—India is shaping the future. And the next breakthrough can come from you,” said Dr. Singh, encouraging citizens to showcase ideas capable of improving the lives of at least 1,000 people.

The challenge is open to:

  • Students
  • Startups
  • Researchers
  • Innovators
  • Farmers
  • Creators
  • Citizens from any background

Participants can submit concepts, prototypes, or pilot innovations across fields such as:
AI, Quantum Computing, Space, Biotechnology, Climate Tech, Healthcare, Agriculture, Education, and other emerging domains.

Top innovations will be recognised at IISF 2025, starting 6 December, under the theme “Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” Selected innovators will also receive support from DST, DBT, CSIR, BIRAC, along with personal mentorship from the Union Minister.

Dr. Singh emphasised that India stands at a decisive moment in its scientific evolution. With maturing innovation ecosystems and national tech missions underway, he encouraged youth to leverage this opportunity:

“To all innovators, especially Gen Z: India is listening.”
