New Delhi: The National Zoological Park (NZP), located near the historic Purana Qila in the heart of New Delhi, reopens to the public with an enthusiastic response, drawing more than 8,000 visitors on the first day. The reopening highlights Delhi’s growing interest in green recreation spaces, as 8,065 visitors, including 954 school students from 12 schools, explore the zoo’s lush and lively environment.

Marking this special day, NZP introduces an innovative ‘Insta Ticket Booking Service’ — a quick and user-friendly way for visitors to book their entry tickets on the spot. This service complements the existing online booking option on the zoo’s official website and aims to reduce waiting times at the gate.
By simply scanning a QR code displayed at the entry gate, visitors can purchase their tickets instantly using UPI apps such as PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay, BHIM, or via debit/credit cards and net banking. The initiative promotes digital convenience and supports the government’s vision of a cashless and paperless experience.
Many guests avail of the service on the reopening day, appreciating the smooth, time-saving entry process. This tech-driven upgrade reflects the zoo’s commitment to offering a modern, sustainable, and educational experience for people of all ages.
About the National Zoological Park
Spread across 176 acres, the National Zoological Park is one of India’s most prominent zoological gardens, managed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Established in 1959, the zoo houses over 1,000 animals, representing more than 100 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles from India and around the world.

The park’s design integrates naturalistic enclosures and expansive landscapes, providing a near-natural habitat for animals while offering visitors a tranquil environment within the city. The zoo also plays an active role in wildlife conservation, captive breeding programs, and public awareness initiatives about biodiversity and ecological balance.
Some of its notable residents include Royal Bengal tigers, Asiatic lions, Indian rhinoceroses, elephants, leopards, and a wide variety of migratory birds. The park’s lush green cover also makes it a favored spot for nature photographers and researchers.
