Metro-3: Mumbai’s First Fully Underground Line
Popularly known as the Aqua Line, Metro-3 will be the city’s first fully underground metro corridor, stretching 33.5 km from Cuffe Parade (Colaba) to Aarey. The route will feature 27 stations — 26 underground and one at grade.
Three-Phase Rollout of Metro-3
- Phase 1: Aarey Colony to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) — 12.69 km stretch, opened to the public on October 7, 2024.
- Phase 2A: BKC to Worli — 9.8 km section with six stations (Dharavi, Shitaladevi Temple, Dadar, Siddhivinayak Temple, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk). This phase was inaugurated on May 9, 2025.
- Phase 3: Worli to Cuffe Parade (including CSMT) — construction work is progressing rapidly, with stations like CSMT entering final stages.
Once fully operational, Metro-3 is expected to significantly reduce road congestion and provide a seamless east-west and north-south connectivity across Mumbai.
