Guwahati Airport Wins International Architectural Award 2025

A Modern Gateway to Northeast India

Operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, Guwahati Airport serves as a crucial aviation hub connecting the Northeast to the rest of India and the world. The recently redeveloped Terminal 2 showcases a blend of modern technology, cultural heritage, and environmental consciousness, designed to accommodate 10 million passengers annually.

Design Rooted in Nature and Tradition

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the resilience of bamboo and the elegance of foxtail orchids—symbols deeply embedded in Assam’s natural and cultural heritage. The terminal’s open-plan layouts, skylights, indoor gardens, and vertical green walls enhance natural light, air quality, and passenger comfort. An “arrival forest” offers a serene transition from runway to terminal, reflecting Assam’s biodiversity.

Sustainable and Passenger-Centric

With a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, the design integrates eco-friendly features that reduce the carbon footprint while ensuring seamless passenger flow and state-of-the-art baggage handling systems.
