State-Wise Coverage Across 16 States/UTs

The newly sanctioned houses span 16 States and Union Territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Sanctions under various verticals include:

  • Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC): 1.66 lakh houses
  • Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP): 1.09 lakh houses
  • Affordable Rental Housing (ARH): 12,846 houses

The ARH vertical is specifically designed to address the rental housing needs of urban migrants, industrial workers, construction workers, working women, and other vulnerable groups.

Demonstration Housing Projects Approved

The CSMC also approved three Demonstration Housing Projects (DHPs) in Chhattisgarh, Puducherry and Rajasthan, each comprising 40 dwelling units. These projects will showcase modern, cost-effective construction technologies to improve speed, quality, and durability in housing development, enabling large-scale replication nationwide.

Focus on Transit-Oriented and Inclusive Housing

During the meeting, Secretary MoHUA emphasized prioritizing housing projects near mass transit corridors and ensuring Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) projects are located within city limits to improve liveability and access to services.

The Joint Secretary & Mission Director (Housing for All) highlighted the need for enhanced beneficiary outreach, particularly targeting women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups to ensure equitable access.

Strong Social Inclusion and Women Empowerment

Among the 2.88 lakh sanctioned houses:

  • Over 1.60 lakh houses have been allotted to women (including widows, separated and unmarried women).
  • 8 dwelling units have been sanctioned for transgender beneficiaries.
  • 22,581 houses allocated to senior citizens.
  • 35,525 houses for SC beneficiaries.
  • 9,773 houses for ST beneficiaries.
  • 82,190 houses for OBC beneficiaries

Notably, 96% of houses under BLC and ISS verticals are either in the name of a female head of household or jointly owned, reinforcing women-led property ownership.

PMAY-U: Transforming Urban India

PMAY-U 2.0 builds upon the foundation of the original PMAY-U launched in 2015. So far, 122.50 lakh houses have been sanctioned under the overall mission, with over 97 lakh pucca houses completed and delivered, significantly enhancing housing security and urban inclusivity.

The latest sanctioning marks another milestone in India’s “Housing for All” vision, accelerating inclusive and sustainable urban development.
