Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building at Halwara Airport, calling it a moment of immense joy for the people of Punjab, particularly Ludhiana and the surrounding regions. The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening regional air connectivity and infrastructure in northern India.

Highlighting Ludhiana’s role as a major industrial and commercial hub, the Prime Minister said improved air connectivity would further support the city’s economic growth and integration with national and global markets. He noted that the government is working tirelessly to upgrade aviation infrastructure, with the Halwara airport project reflecting this commitment towards developing modern and efficient airports.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister emphasized that Ludhiana is known for its dynamic and enterprising people, and enhanced air services would benefit industry, trade, and regional mobility. The new terminal is expected to improve passenger experience and pave the way for expanded flight operations in the future, offering better connectivity for Punjab’s industrial heartland.
The inauguration aligns with the Centre’s broader push to modernise aviation infrastructure and improve access to air travel across tier-II and tier-III cities, reinforcing Halwara Airport’s strategic importance for Punjab and neighbouring areas.
