DMRC Central Vista depot design tender for Magenta Line Phase 5 expansion

The upcoming depot will be located near Majlis Park metro station and will support operations on the Magenta Line, including the proposed Central Vista corridor. The project is expected to play a significant role in improving operational efficiency and connectivity across central Delhi.

Project Scope and Design Requirements

According to officials, the selected consultant will be responsible for comprehensive architectural, electrical, and mechanical design works for the depot. The facility will be developed both at-grade and at elevated levels, ensuring optimal use of space and integration with the existing metro infrastructure.

Metro depots are critical infrastructure components that facilitate train stabling, inspection, maintenance, and operational readiness. With the addition of this depot, DMRC will further strengthen its expanding network, which currently includes 14 operational depots.

Timeline and Strategic Importance

The project is expected to be completed within 60 months from the date of award, indicating a long-term infrastructure commitment aligned with Delhi’s transit-oriented development goals.

The Central Vista depot is part of the larger Phase-5 expansion, which includes the 9.91 km corridor connecting R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha. This corridor, approved by both the central and Delhi governments, is designed to enhance east-west connectivity and reduce congestion at key interchange stations such as Rajiv Chowk.

Enhancing Urban Mobility

The expansion of the Magenta Line and associated infrastructure like the Central Vista depot reflects a broader push towards sustainable and efficient public transport systems in Delhi. The project is expected to significantly ease passenger load, improve service frequency, and support future ridership growth in the city’s core areas.
