The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BEML Limited to collaborate on metro rail projects both domestically and internationally.

The partnership will focus on jointly identifying, bidding, and executing metro rail projects by leveraging BEML’s expertise in rolling stock manufacturing and DMRC’s extensive experience in metro system execution and operations. This collaboration is expected to create a comprehensive ecosystem for delivering integrated and globally competitive metro solutions.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. P.K. Garg, Director (Business Development), DMRC, and Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Director (Rail & Metro), BEML, on April 8, 2026, at Metro Bhawan in New Delhi. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, and Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vikas Kumar described the agreement as a “historic collaboration” between two leading Indian entities. He highlighted its potential to significantly strengthen urban mobility systems in India while also expanding their footprint in global metro markets. He further emphasized the importance of indigenous propulsion systems and Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Shri Shantanu Roy noted that the partnership would reinforce BEML’s position in the rail and metro sector. He highlighted BEML’s strong track record in supplying metro coaches to DMRC and other projects, and expressed confidence that the collaboration would enable both organizations to deliver advanced, efficient, and cost-effective metro solutions.
The alliance aims to align the technical and commercial strengths of both organizations, ensuring robust project delivery while contributing to India’s growing global presence in metro rail infrastructure.
