Bankola, West Bengal: An 80-year-old heritage structure, popularly known as “Tally Bungalow”, located in the Bankola Area colony, has been beautifully restored and transformed into a Yoga and Recreation Centre by Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) under the Special Campaign 5.0 initiative.

Originally built during the British era by a private coal company for official use, the once-dilapidated bungalow has been given a new life without compromising its original architectural charm.

Spread over 81,310 sq. ft., the rejuvenated complex now features lush green lawns, modern fitness equipment, and a refurbished main building of 16,868 sq. ft., redesigned to accommodate yoga sessions and recreational activities. The centre is also equipped with toilet and washroom facilities for daily yoga practitioners, ECL employees, and local residents.
The facility was inaugurated virtually by Shri Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, ECL, in the presence of Shri Sanjay Kumar Sahu, Area General Manager, Bankola Area, along with Heads of Departments, and representatives from JCC, Welfare Committee, CISTEA, INMOSSA, OBC Welfare Association, and SC/ST/OBC Council.
During the inauguration, Shri Satish Jha appreciated the Bankola Area management for their efforts in restoring this historic building into a vibrant space promoting wellness and community engagement. He emphasized that yoga fosters physical fitness, mental peace, and emotional balance, contributing to a more disciplined and productive work environment.

The revival of Tally Bungalow stands as a symbol of ECL’s dedication to employee welfare, heritage preservation, and holistic workplace culture—blending history, health, and harmony in one landmark initiative.
