CAQM Inspects 142 Noida Roads; Majority Found with Low or No Visible Dust

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has conducted a large-scale inspection of road stretches maintained by the Noida Authority, with findings indicating an overall encouraging status of road dust management across the city.

According to an official statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the inspection drive was carried out on 5 January 2026 under the statutory framework of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). A total of 142 road stretches across Noida were inspected to assess on-ground implementation of dust mitigation measures, including mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling, and waste management.

Inspection Findings

The consolidated inspection report shows that:

  • 48 road stretches had no visible dust
  • 66 stretches recorded low dust intensity
  • 24 stretches showed moderate dust levels
  • Only 4 stretches were found with high visible dust

The stretches with higher dust levels were largely associated with accumulation of municipal solid waste (MSW) and construction and demolition (C&D) waste, particularly under flyovers, along metro corridors, and on certain arterial roads.

Monitoring and Enforcement

The inspection was carried out by 10 teams comprising officials from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) and CAQM’s flying squads. Geo-tagged and time-stamped photographic evidence was collected during field inspections and submitted as part of the official evaluation.

CAQM has stressed the need for focused and sustained action at identified dust hotspots. Recommended measures include regular mechanical sweeping, scientific disposal of collected waste, effective water sprinkling, and strict prevention of illegal dumping and open burning.

Continued ‘Operation Clean Air’

The Commission reaffirmed that inspection and enforcement drives under ‘Operation Clean Air’ will continue across the National Capital Region (NCR) to ensure compliance with GRAP measures and statutory directions. CAQM stated that it is working “on a war footing” with all concerned agencies to ensure clean, green, dust-free, and well-maintained urban road infrastructure.
