The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced a Post-Budget Webinar on the theme “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas – Fulfilling Aspirations of People” focusing on Education, Skills and University Townships. The webinar will be held on 9 March 2026 and will deliberate on the implementation of key announcements made in the Union Budget 2026–27.

The initiative aims to bring together policymakers, academic institutions, experts, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for translating budget proposals into measurable outcomes. The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education is the lead department organizing the webinar.
According to the advisory issued by UGC, the discussions will focus on major policy announcements related to education, skill development, creative industries, inclusive capacity building, and institutional infrastructure. These areas require coordinated action among various ministries and departments to ensure timely and effective implementation.
The webinar will begin with an Opening Session featuring a special address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, followed by multiple breakout sessions where experts and policymakers will deliberate on specific initiatives.
Key themes of the breakout sessions include:
- Education to Employment and Enterprise initiatives led by NITI Aayog
- Development of the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) Content Creator Lab under the Orange Economy framework
- Establishment of a new National Institute of Design
- Development of five University Townships
- Construction of girls’ hostels in every district for STEM institutions
- Implementation of Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana to strengthen skill development for persons with disabilities.
The program will also feature expert remarks from leading academicians, industry representatives, and policy specialists, including experts from institutions such as IISc Bengaluru, IIT Delhi, and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, along with representatives from industry and government bodies.
The webinar will conclude with closing remarks from senior ministers of the Government of India, including the Minister for Education, highlighting the government’s roadmap for strengthening India’s higher education ecosystem and linking it with employment, innovation, and urban development.
UGC has requested Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country to widely disseminate the webinar information among students and faculty members and participate actively in the discussions to contribute ideas and feedback on the future of India’s education and skills ecosystem.
