The GRIHA Council, in collaboration with the The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is set to organise an exclusive, invite-only event titled “Sustainability in Action: Bengaluru’s Urban Challenge” on Friday, 9 January 2026, in Bengaluru.

The event will take place at the TERI SRC Auditorium, Domlur II Stage, and is scheduled from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. It aims to bring together policymakers, urban practitioners, industry leaders, sustainability experts, and academic professionals to deliberate on actionable strategies for addressing Bengaluru’s pressing urban and environmental challenges.
Focus on Urban Sustainability and Built Environment Practices
As one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions, Bengaluru faces complex issues related to urban infrastructure, climate resilience, resource efficiency, and sustainable growth. The dialogue will focus on practical interventions in the built environment, with discussions centred on policy frameworks, governance mechanisms, and scalable sustainability solutions relevant to Indian cities.
A key highlight of the programme will be a panel discussion featuring experts from government, industry, and research institutions, facilitating cross-sectoral perspectives on urban sustainability and implementation challenges.
Book Launch and MoU Signing
The event will also witness the launch of the publication “Best Practices in Sustainable Built Environments – Case Studies from India and Australia,” published by Springer. The book compiles case studies demonstrating climate-responsive design, energy efficiency, and sustainable urban development practices across different geographies.
Additionally, an MoU signing ceremony is scheduled, underscoring collaborative efforts towards advancing sustainability standards, research exchange, and capacity-building initiatives in the built environment sector.
