UPPSC Announces Assistant Town Planner (Special Recruitment) Examination 2025

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced the Assistant Town Planner (Special Recruitment) Examination 2025, inviting applications from eligible candidates holding planning-related degrees. This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies for the post of Assistant Town Planner (ATP) under various departments of the Uttar Pradesh government.

  • Online Application Start Date: November 3, 2025
  • Last Date for Payment of Examination Fee: December 3, 2025
  • Last Date for Online Submission and Correction: December 10, 2025

Candidates are required to first obtain a One Time Registration (OTR) through the Commission’s official portal — https://otr.pariksha.nic.in — at least 72 hours before submitting their application online at https://uppsc.up.nic.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess a degree or postgraduate diploma in Town and Country Planning or an equivalent qualification recognized by the government. Degrees from reputed institutions like the School of Planning and Architecture, Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), or equivalent foreign universities are also accepted.

Age Limit:
Candidates must be between 21 and 40 years of age as on July 1, 2025.
Relaxation in upper age limit applies to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.

Selection Process

The recruitment process will include a Preliminary Examination followed by a Main (Written) Examination.

  • The Preliminary Exam will carry 150 marks, focusing on General Studies and Town & Country Planning topics.
  • The Main Written Exam will consist of two papers, each carrying 200 marks.

The detailed syllabus includes subjects like Planning Theory, Urban Governance, Housing, Infrastructure, Regional Planning, and Urban Design.

Application Fee

  • Unreserved / OBC / EWS: ₹125
  • SC / ST: ₹65
  • PwD: ₹25
  • Ex-Servicemen: ₹65

Fees are to be paid online through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or other accepted modes.

Important Instructions

  • Only candidates with a valid OTR can apply online.
  • Candidates must ensure correctness in all entered details; any misinformation will lead to disqualification.
  • The Commission reserves the right to cancel the candidature at any stage for discrepancies or non-compliance.

Reservation

Reservation benefits are applicable for candidates of SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and other categories as per UP government rules. Special provisions apply for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Disabilities.
