Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) will organize the 15th edition of its annual Mass Awareness Campaign for Disaster Risk Reduction – ‘Samarth 2025’ on October 13, 2025, coinciding with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The campaign aims to strengthen the capacity of vulnerable communities across the state by spreading awareness on disaster preparedness, resilience building, and effective response mechanisms.
As part of this initiative, various outreach activities, training programs, and awareness drives will be conducted at the community level to educate citizens about disaster risks and the importance of preventive measures. Special focus will be given to rural and disaster-prone areas of Himachal Pradesh to ensure wider participation and inclusivity.
Officials from HPSDMA emphasized that such awareness campaigns are crucial for reducing the impact of natural disasters in the hill state, which is prone to landslides, earthquakes, flash floods, and forest fires. By engaging with schools, local bodies, and community groups, the campaign seeks to build a culture of safety and preparedness.
The authority has also shared emergency helplines for public assistance:
- District Disaster Helpline: 1077
- State Disaster Helpline: 1070
- Contact Number: 9459455841
