New Delhi, August 2025 – Commuters heading to the Garden of Five Senses in Said-Ul-Azaib village, Mehrauli, can expect a safer and smoother journey soon. The Public Works Department (PWD) has floated a ₹29,50,430 tender to repair and maintain the damaged roundabout leading to the popular tourist attraction. The work is scheduled for completion within two months.

The project scope includes road excavation, concrete laying, resurfacing, replacement of old pavement blocks, and installation of cement barriers to segregate traffic lanes—currently absent from the route.

The move follows mounting road safety concerns, as multiple potholes, long cracks, and uneven surfaces have been causing frequent jolts to vehicles and increasing accident risks. Local commuters, auto-rickshaw drivers, and vendors have reported several incidents in recent weeks, citing sudden braking, axle damage, and poor visibility due to overgrown greenery.

The Garden of Five Senses, spread over 20 acres and inaugurated in 2003, is known for its Mughal-inspired Khas Bagh, water channels, flowering shrubs, and tree-lined paths. The road upgrade aligns with the Delhi Tourism Department’s planned park revamp, for which consultant proposals have already been invited.
