Andhra Pradesh marked a significant step in modernising public service infrastructure within educational campuses with the inauguration of the state’s first Gen-Z Themed transformed campus Post Office at VIT-AP University, Amaravati. The facility was inaugurated on Friday by Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, as part of India Post’s nationwide initiative to reimagine traditional Post Offices as student-centric, future-ready service hubs.

The newly revamped VIT-AP University Sub Post Office has been designed to resonate with Gen-Z sensibilities, blending functional postal services with contemporary spatial design and informal social zones. The initiative aims to strengthen engagement with young citizens while promoting financial inclusion and digital literacy within campus ecosystems.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from India Post and the state administration, including Ms. B. P. Sridevi, Chief Postmaster General, Andhra Pradesh Circle; Dr. P. Arulmolivarman, Vice-Chancellor of VIT-AP University; Smt. A. Thameem Anasariya, Collector and District Magistrate of Guntur district; along with other senior postal officers, university administrators, and faculty members.
As part of India Post’s broader transformation agenda, the Gen-Z themed Post Office introduces a range of new-generation facilities rarely associated with conventional postal spaces. These include an India Post literature wall, a coffee zone, foosball table, magazine stand, free Wi-Fi, and enhanced digital service access, creating a welcoming and interactive environment for students. The spatial design reflects a shift towards informal, flexible interiors that encourage engagement beyond transactional use.
On the occasion, the Minister of State also released a Special Postal Cover titled “VIT: Gen-Z Themed Post Office of Andhra Pradesh,” commemorating the initiative. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar stated that the project reflects the Department of Posts’ commitment to aligning public infrastructure with the evolving aspirations of young India. He emphasised that such campus-based initiatives play a crucial role in familiarising students with essential postal, financial, and digital services in an accessible and engaging manner.
Conceptualised specifically for Gen-Z users, the campus Post Office offers simplified service delivery, digital payment options, and seamless access to postal, banking, and insurance services under one roof. The initiative reinforces India Post’s focus on innovation, inclusivity, and customer-centric service delivery, while also contributing to financial awareness and institutional connectivity within higher education environments.
