Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Inaugurates State-of-the-Art CGST Bhawan in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad,: The newly constructed Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Bhawan was inaugurated in Ghaziabad, marking a major milestone in sustainable and technology-driven tax administration.

The event highlighted the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)’s focus on strengthening transparent, efficient, and citizen-oriented governance. Senior officials from CBIC, trade representatives, and dignitaries attended the ceremony.

In her address, the Union Finance Minister emphasized technology-enabled compliance, enhanced transparency, and empathy-driven taxpayer services. She noted that reforms in the tax framework aim to make compliance simpler and improve the experience of honest taxpayers.

Built by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) at a cost of ₹116 crore, the state-of-the-art building spans 2.21 acres and features two basements and seven floors. It brings together all Ghaziabad-based CGST offices — including the Commissionerate, Audit & Appeals Commissionerates, and Pay & Accounts Office — promoting administrative synergy and operational efficiency.

Rated Five-Star by GRIHA and winner of the 2024 GRIHA Exemplary Performance Award, the building showcases several eco-friendly features, including a solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, smart energy meters, a waste-to-pencil unit, and a solid waste management system.

The Bhawan also houses a GST Sewa Kendra, Taxpayers’ Lounge, Digital Kiosk (GST Saarthi), and inclusive amenities like a creche, gymnasium, and multipurpose auditorium — reflecting the Department’s commitment to employee well-being and public convenience.

Strategically located in the NCR’s industrial hub, the CGST Bhawan, Ghaziabad, stands as a model of modern, sustainable, and citizen-focused administrative infrastructure.
